Andrea Ranocchia will sign for Sampdoria tomorrow, according to his lawyer.

The Inter Milan defender captained the side last season but was replaced by Mauro Icardi for the current campaign.

And Inter boss Roberto Mancini told the 27-year-old to find a new club having named him in the starting line-up just once in Serie A this year.

The club had agreed a £7.3million deal for the player with Norwich but Ranocchia reportedly turned down the deal.

And although Liverpool were said to have agreed a deal in principle with the Italian club for Ranocchia, it now looks as though he will remain in Italy.

Having represented his country on 20 occasions, the Italian would have added some experience to Liverpool's defensive line.

But Jurgen Klopp's pursuit looks to have failed with Ranocchia's lawyer Antonio Romei claiming the player will put pen to paper on a deal with Sampdoria tomorrow.

“I can confirm that tomorrow will be the day for the signature with Ranocchia,” Romei told Italian outlet FCInter1908.

“We have a meeting with Inter to close the deal.”
