A young fan from a local school had a day to remember when he was invited to Liverpool's Premier League clash with Stoke City this week.

Lewis Trimm, 17, who is in year 13 at Alsop High School, was given the chance to attend the match through the club’s Young Fan Ticket Initiative, which aims to give more young and local supporters the opportunity to see a game at Anfield.

Through the initiative, Alsop High School has received a number of free tickets so far this season and has used them to incentivise students, with Lewis attending the victory over Stoke after winning a competition which ran across PE students in the school’s Sixth Form.

Anthony Leatherbarrow, teacher at Alsop High School, said: “We ran a competition for the students to raise money for a Christmas project for the younger pupils. Lewis’ project was the best and raised over £100, so he was chosen to attend the game.

“He’s a huge Liverpool fan and wants to be a full-time football coach in the future, so he had a great day.”

Lifelong Red Lewis enjoyed the 4-1 win from an executive box in the new Main Stand, and said: “I really enjoyed the game on Tuesday. I’ve been to some matches before, but never like that.

“The experience is one I’ll never forget and the result was the icing on the cake. I can’t thank the LFC and Alsop staff enough for making it possible.”
