Charlie Adam today thanked new boss Kenny Dalglish for keeping faith in his abilities after having his initial interest rebuffed in January.

The Reds attempted to prize the Scot from Bloomfield Road six months ago but Ian Holloway refused to sell as he sought to guarantee Blackpool's Barclays Premier League status.

Following relegation for the Seasiders a deal was struck last week and PFA Player of 2010-11 nominee Adam is now with his new teammates on their tour of Asia.

Speaking at a press conference in China on Monday, he said: "I'm delighted to eventually be here.

"Obviously it was tough in January with the decisions that were made and I respected Blackpool in that and I have now been able to come here and join a wonderful club, a massive club that is well known all over the world.

"Obviously I'd like to thank the manager for bringing me here and it is a step in my career I'm looking forward to.

"I want to learn and there are some of the best players in the world at this club so if I can learn from them I am going to improve as a player. That is my aim."
