Acclaimed local playwright Nicky Allt is taking his love for Liverpool FC to the stage again later this year with the definitive show about the club's long and illustrious history.

Starting in September, Royal Court Liverpool will be producing 'You'll Never Walk Alone - The Legend of Liverpool FC', a show that tells the story of one of the world's most famous football clubs, written by one of its biggest fans.

Nicky has already had massive success with the stage play One Night In Istanbul and LFC-related books such as The Boys From The Mersey, as well as being co-writer of Liverpool's most seen play of the last 10 years - Brick Up The Mersey Tunnels.

He is already excited by what is a huge project.

Nicky said: "With our legendary club 120 years old and finally in safe hands, The King on The Throne, Luis, Steven and Jamie ready to take the legend further, and our fanatical supporters absolutely buzzing again, this was the one to write."

The show tells stories of the glories on the fields of Anfield Road from Elisha Scott, Albert Stubbins and Billy Liddell to Kenny Dalglish, John Barnes and Steven Gerrard.

With complete access to the LFC archive, Nicky has brought together every major incident in the club's 119-year history and created a show that will make you laugh, cry and cheer out loud.

Director Bob Eaton, who has enjoyed success at the Royal Court with Lennon, Our Day Out, Scouse Pacific and countless others, will also be working on the show. The full cast is still to be confirmed.

Kevin Fearon, Chief Executive of Royal Court Liverpool, added: "It is the right time for this play and we have got the experience and ability to do it well. I'm confident that we can produce the definitive stage show about LFC."

You'll Never Walk Alone - The Legend of Liverpool FC runs from 30 September to 29 October 2011 and tickets are available from £12.
