Liverpool U18s remain in the hunt for the Premier Academy League Group C title after a Michael Ngoo penalty earned them a 1-1 draw at Sheffield United on Saturday afternoon.

The young Reds went into the contest without four regulars due to England U17s' international commitments and they fell behind midway through the second half courtesy of a stunning opener from the Youth Cup finalists.

However, Rodolfo Borrell's charges dug deep and when substitute Ngoo was brought crashing to the ground 10 minutes from time they were awarded a spot-kick.

Ngoo picked himself up and calmly stroked home the penalty to earn his team a deserved share of the spoils.

It means Liverpool are now five points behind leaders Everton with two games to play after the Toffees went down to a shock 1-0 reversal in their final match at Leeds United.

The Reds will now face Wolves home and away to determine whether they can top Group C and progress to the Academy play-offs.

Liverpool U18s: Belford, Rafferty, McGiveron, Wisdom, Sama, Coady, Roddan, Silva, Mukendi (King 75), Adorjan, Emilsson (Ngoo 45). Unused subs: Walsh, Stephens, Hajdu.
