Jürgen Klopp revealed there were several reasons for the decision to introduce Fabinho and Naby Keita into his starting XI to face Southampton.

The midfield pair replace Jordan Henderson and James Milner for the Premier League clash at St Mary’s – the only changes from the Liverpool side that started against Tottenham Hotspur last weekend.

Asked for the thinking behind the alterations, Klopp told Sky Sports: “Just bringing in fresh legs, adapting to the opponent, adapting to the intensity of our game.

“We had pretty much all of them available and so we can make decisions. So we made decisions for the game and that’s the decision.”
