Liverpool celebrated FA Cup glory for the first time in 1965 thanks to St John’s winner against Leeds United at Wembley.

It was a glorious moment for Bill Shankly’s great team and they showed unbelievable spirit and a desire to win – epitomised by Gerry Byrne playing most of the game with a broken collarbone.

After normal time failed to produce a goal, Roger Hunt fired the Reds into the lead. Billy Bremner bagged the equaliser but St John’s big moment arrived on 111 minutes when he headed the winner.
