Liverpool Football Club today paid its respects to Sir Philip Carter, who has sadly passed away.

The Reds were saddened to learn the former Everton chairman died at his home on Thursday morning after illness.

Sir Philip joined the Blues as a director in 1973 before becoming chairman in 1978 - a role he later returned to in 1998. In June 2004, he was made life president at Goodison Park.

Liverpool FC offer their deepest condolences to Sir Philip's family, friends and Everton FC at this time.
