Toure: I'll be ready to help the team
Kolo Toure insists he is making sure he remains fully prepared to seize upon any opportunities when called upon by Brendan Rodgers this season.
The 33-year-old centre-back hasn't figured so far this term, but with the addition of Champions League football to Liverpool's quest for success in three domestic competitions, he knows the Reds will need to utilise the depth of their new-look squad.
"The time I've spent at Liverpool already has been amazing for me," Toure said. "We had a great season and I've had a great time.
"You always want to be part of a great team and I hope this will be another great season for Liverpool Football Club.
"There are so many games this season with the four competitions that the manager needs depth.
"I am sure everyone will get chances at some point.
"The most important thing for me is what's best for the team, it's not about individuals.
"I'm part of a great project here and I will do my best every time I play."
Toure watched on from the bench as Liverpool turned in an exceptional performance against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
The Reds cruised to a 3-0 victory at White Hart Lane to successfully bounce back from their loss against Manchester City just days earlier.
"It was a very good performance from the team," he reflected. "It was really important to get a win after the defeat to City.
"We could have done better in that game but to lose 3-1 was harsh. It was a great response on Sunday. Spurs are a top club with good players and a good manager so we knew it would be a tough game."
Meanwhile, Toure predicts Mario Balotelli will prove to be an excellent addition to the Liverpool squad.
The Ivorian knows all about the talents of the Reds' new No.45 having played with him during their time at Manchester City.
"I thought he was fantastic against Spurs," Toure said of Balotelli's debut. "He's a great player and we know he can score goals. We are all happy that he has come to Liverpool.
"He's more mature now. You can see that with his behaviour on the pitch - chasing the ball and fighting for the team.
"Mario is a great player and we're all happy to have him here.
"He can help make the difference this season in a team with many great young players.
"There's not just Mario, Raheem [Sterling] was amazing at Tottenham and so were Jordan [Henderson] and Joe Allen in the middle. The spirit is fantastic at this football club.
"Becoming part of this team will enable Mario to show his qualities. He's going to be playing alongside good players and will enjoy every game."
