Reds fans rally for Ewa
Liverpool fans around the world are rallying together to try and help a 15-year-old Kopite walk again after she lost her legs in a tragic accident last month.
Ewa Kieryk, from the town of Bierutow in Poland, was forced to have her limbs amputated after she was caught between the compartments of a moving train in early January.
The avid Reds fan was on her way to school when she and some friends decided to take a shortcut across railway tracks as there is no footbridge in the town.
However, as Ewa walked between two carriages, the train began to move causing her to fall underneath it.
A passing physiotherapist student acted quickly by using his scarf to stem the loss of blood from the severe injuries sustained to her legs before the emergency services arrived.
Against all odds, Ewa survived - although despite their best efforts, doctors at the hospital in Wroclaw were forced to amputate both of her legs.
Prosthetic limbs would enable Ewa to one day walk again - but at a cost of approximately £40,000 her family are unable to afford them.
However, upon hearing of her story, LFCPoland.com editor Radoslaw Chmiel has set up a campaign to help raise funds for the prosthesis.
The campaign has already received the support of Jamie Carragher and his 23 Foundation, with the vice-captain donating a signed painting to be auctioned off on eBay, and fans can contribute via an online PayPal account.
