Kenny Dalglish today reiterated that Steven Gerrard is making good progress in his rehabilitation - and reported no new injury concerns ahead of Sunday's mouthwatering encounter with Manchester City.

The skipper is still ruled out with an ankle infection for the showdown with the league leaders but the boss remains positive about his long-term fitness.

Dalglish told his pre-match press conference: "Like we've already said, we are delighted with the progress he's making and we've said that we won't put a date on his return - and we won't put a date on it now. We are very happy with his progress.

"Everyone is available (for Sunday) apart from Steven and Jack Robinson."

Asked about Glen Johnson's match fitness and form after the full-back capped his recent return from injury with the winning goal at Chelsea, Dalglish said: "Well he's fit. He's playing really well.

"We are delighted with the way he's been playing."

Quizzed as to whether he is England's best right-back, Dalglish continued: "At the moment for us he's in the right-back position and that's the only team we want to pick. No-one else tries to pick our team so why should we pick theirs (England)."

Meanwhile, out-on-loan Joe Cole's displays at Lille have led to suggestions the midfielder could make a move to France permanent.

Dalglish said: "Well, they've not spoken to me, so I don't know anything about it. I know they won 2-0 and the wee man played well and hit the post. But I think he's been playing well most of the time. It's great for Joe that he's doing so well. Beyond that, I don't know."
