Glen Johnson was quick to pay tribute to Charlie Adam after the Scottish international played a major role in his Stamford Bridge winner.

The former Chelsea right-back netted a superb individual goal to seal the three points for Kenny Dalglish's side after he waltzed through the Londoners rearguard after being found by an exquisite pass from Adam.

Johnson told Liverpoolfc.tv: "It was fantastic to score the winner and it was a great pass from Charlie. I told him after the game I had been waiting over 75 minutes for that pass!

"It was brilliant for Charlie because he also played a big role in our opening goal.

"It's sometimes difficult in a tight game to find the space but when you have a player like Charlie, once is often enough for you to get the chance to score.

"I tried not to celebrate too much because I had some great years during my time at Chelsea but when you get a winner like that it's hard not to celebrate.

"We completely dominated the first half but Chelsea are a great side and we knew they would come back at us, but we kept going and kept believing and got the winner.

"The lads can take fantastic belief from this victory. We know our last home game was disappointing but then we come to Chelsea and win, which is football sometimes.

"The lads have worked really hard and it has been a tough week with Brad (Jones) losing his little boy and I want to dedicate my goal to Brad and Luca, and I don't know where to begin to start to imagine what he is feeling inside."

Liverpool's No.2 is now hoping he can keep up his fitness and play a big part in helping Dalglish's charges get back into the top-four this season.

He added: "I've been feeling good in training and this was the best I have felt during a match, so hopefully the injuries are behind me now and I can get back to my best.

"If we keep doing well away from home and get our home form right then we will be right up there challenging for the top positions."
