Charlie Adam is confident Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez are on the cusp of forging a strike partnership to terrorise Barclays Premier League defences.

The duo produced their best display so far as their link-up play emerged as one of the highlights of the Reds' 2-0 win at West Brom.

Adam was impressed by the way they got amongst the Baggies backline and reckons they were key to the Hawthorns triumph.

"It's easy to see the two of them are top players and they are working well," Adam said.

"Luis got the penalty and laid on a great ball for Andy's goal. Their movement is terrific and they caused a lot of problems for West Brom's defence. The two of them should be happy with the performance they put it."

Meanwhile, Adam admits the stiff competition for places at Anfield means he is constantly looking to raise his game.

The Scotland star believes the influx of summer additions has given the Reds a greater depth to their squad and is convinced they are improving with each passing game.

"When you are at this club there are so many good players," he said. "On Saturday, Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher never played, people like Dirk Kuyt and Craig Bellamy were on the bench.

"It's up to the manager who he picks but when you come to a team like Liverpool it's a squad game with 25 international players so it's going to be difficult to get in the team.

"Everybody has got to take their chance when it comes. We know that if we slip our standards then we'll get dropped.

"If you're at a big club you need different options and we've got that. If we can use that to our advantage over the course of the season then we'll be happy.

"I thought we played well at West Brom and created a lot of chances again. We're passing the ball well but there are other aspects to our game we know we're going to have to work on.

"We're getting better every game but it takes time when you get so many new players together."
