Ex-red joins Black Cats
Former Liverpool defender Steve Staunton has joined Sunderland's backroom staff.
The 42-year-old enjoyed two spells at Anfield as a player and has since managed the Republic of Ireland and Darlington.
He will take up a role as match assessor with the Black Cats.
