JK: "I don't know exactly what the problem is with Mane and I don't want to speculate...we have to wait."

JK: "Now we have to recover and need to be ready again. We will fight for everything. My boys showed again they are really to fight for everything. Hopefully we can get there."

JK: "When I saw Sadio in the dressing room, it didn't look like he'd be ready for Wednesday. Hopefully it's not serious, but it's not nothing."

JK: "I said to the boys before the game, we needed a mixture a being really smart as well as emotional."

Jürgen Klopp: "I thought it was deserved. Like always, you have to learn a little bit from the game. We knew about the intensity we needed to be ready for - and I thought we were. After the first few minutes, we controlled the game."

Reds claim derby double

It's all over at Anfield and Liverpool clinch a 3-1 success over Everton in the Merseyside derby thanks to goals from Sadio Mane, Philippe Coutinho and Divock Origi, with Matthew Pennington netting a consolation for the Blues.

Firmino off, Klavan on.

Mirallas goes on a surge into the area before blasting over the crossbar.

Alexander-Arnold smacks one at goal from the edge of the box, but it's too close to Robles. Get the feeling he fancies a goal here does Trent.

Everton change - Mirallas on, Calvert-Lewin off.

Lovely play from Clyne, who zips down the right and slips a low cross in for Origi, but Robles just manages to get there first.

Lovely play from Clyne, who zips down the right and slips a low cross in for Origi, but Robles just manages to get there first.

Can breaks away down the right and pulls the ball back for Alexander-Arnold, whose scuffed effort is clawed away by Robles. What a moment that would have been!

A second Liverpool change - Coutinho comes off for Alexander-Arnold.

Two chances in quick succession for the Blues as first, Holgate's driven volley is deflected towards goal and Mignolet manages to claw it away. Barkley retrieves and crosses, where Calvert-Lewin heads over the bar unmarked.

Yellow Card

Can now goes into the book for a late challenge on Valencia.

Everton make a double change as Barry and Valencia come on and Pennington and Davies depart.

Yellow Card

Williams is booked after a late challenge on Can, who is down and in need of treatment.

The substitute makes an instant impact as he slams beyond Robles from the edge of the area after Coutinho's brilliant pass allowed him to get the wrong side of Williams.

Get in, Divock!

Here's that enforced change - Mane off, Origi on.

Barkley works space for a shot, it strikes a Liverpool defender and deflects into the gloves of Mignolet.

This doesn't look too good for Sadio Mane. He's accidentally caught by Leighton Baines as he tries to close down the Everton full-back and he's not recovered from the knock. Looks like he'll need to come off.

Now at the other end, Can strikes low towards goal, it cannons against Williams and almost breaks for Coutinho, but he can't control.

Barkley's free-kick into the Liverpool area from deep is met with a prod from Williams, but Mignolet is able to claim.

We're back under way... the Reds kick us off.

Here's how the numbers are looking at half-time...

Half Time

Reds lead at the break

Liverpool return to the dressing room holding a 2-1 lead over Everton at Anfield thanks to goals from Sadio Mane and Philippe Coutinho. Matthew Pennington was on target for the Blues in between.

Coutinho lifts a left-footed cross into the area from the right, which Firmino is inches away from connecting with via his head.

Yellow Card

Ross Barkley sees yellow after a poor challenge on Lovren.

The Reds are quickly back in front and it's a moment of mastery from Coutinho, who glides beyond two challenges and into the area, shifts the ball onto his right and bends into the top corner.

Lovely, lovely stuff.

Goal for Everton - Pennington

Everton level the scoreline at Anfield as Matthew Pennington reacts to slot in loose ball inside the area following a corner.

Yellow Card

Davies goes into the book for a challenge on Mane.

Baines lines up a free-kick from 25 yards, but he cracks it into the Liverpool wall.

Super Sadio

It's almost 2-0 as Can and Coutinho play a one-two that releases the latter into the area. He cuts inside and drills goalwards. Robles gets a hand to it but it's heading over the line until Phil Jagielka nods away from under the crossbar.

Rest in peace, Ronnie Moran.

Yes! Get in! The start we'd all dreamt of last night - and it comes via Sadio Mane.

The forward collects the ball deep, motors forward, dodging several challenges before, almost nonchalantly, rolling the ball across goal beyond the static Joel Robles and into the corner.

Here we go then, Everton kick the game off at Anfield.

Come on you Reds!

A tribute to Bugsy

The Kop holds aloft a mosaic that simply reads 'Bugsy' in memory of Mr Liverpool, Ronnie Moran, as the entire stadium - including the visitors' section - holds a minute's appaluse in his honour.

You'll Never Walk Alone is bellowing out around Anfield. Kick-off is just moments away.

How are the nerves?

A quick update for the weather enthusiasts among you...

Rain is falling pretty heavily around Anfield now - no debate required over a coat if you're making your way to the stadium!

Stat attack

  • That victory at Goodison Park earlier in the season moved Liverpool up to 90 wins from the previous 227 Merseyside derbies; Everton have 66, with 71 meetings drawn.
  • Only Manchester United (twice) have prevented the Reds from scoring in their 29 league games at Anfield under Klopp.
  • Liverpool are unbeaten in the last 11 league derbies played in the month of April, since losing 2-1 at Goodison in 1965. They have never lost to Everton in 10 April league meetings at Anfield.

You can hardly have forgotten, but here's what happened when the sides last met, in December...

How to prepare for a game like Gini

One thing you should definitely do before kick-off is check out our fascinating feature with midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum, who provides an exclusive explanation of how players get ready for matches at the highest level.

It's an overcast start to the day on Merseyside, with temperatures currently at around nine degrees. That could rise slightly by the time the match gets under way, so wrap up accordingly if you're heading to the stadium.

Further tributes will be paid to Ronnie Moran - who dedicated 49 years of his life to Liverpool as a player, captain, coach, caretaker manager and more - ahead of kick-off.

The Kop will form a special mosaic in his name as a minute's applause is observed by all at the ground.

Today's matchday programme cover honours 'Mr Liverpool', Ronnie Moran, who passed away last week at the age of 83.

Speaking of the dressing room, Liverpool will use a brand new one at Anfield for the first time today. Take a look inside their refurbished quarters in the video below...

Nobody in the Reds dressing room will need any reminder of the importance of today's game.

"I'm not skilled in a lot of parts in life but maybe I'm genius in understanding derbies because I didn't need a second to understand how important this game is," said Klopp at his pre-match press conference.

"I played a few in my life - this is the third against Everton - I played a lot of derbies in my career and it's this moment when the world around stops for 90 minutes in a specific city or region. That's good because we all know football is not the most important thing in the world, but we love to think that in a few moments it is."
