Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing Ajax star Anwar El Ghazi - but face competition from Italy to land the winger.

Reds manager Jurgen Klopp has admitted he may dip into the transfer window again before deadline day.

Liverpool were linked with a swoop for El Ghazi in June but it was thought their interest faded once Sadio Made arrived from Southampton.

But Italian newspaper Il Tempo claim the Merseyside club remain keen on bringing El Ghazi to the Premier League.

According to the report, Liverpool and Lazio are set to go head to head in a struggle to land the Holland international.

El Ghazi, 21, made his Ajax debut in August 2014 and has since played two full seasons at the Amsterdam club.

Lazio are supposedly seeking a replacement for Antonio Candreva, who quit the Rome club for Inter Milan this summer.

The report claims El Ghazi is on manager Simone Inzaghi's wish list, with Ajax demanding £15.5million for their star man.

That figure is too high for the Serie A outfit, who are reported willing to pay £11.2m for a permanent switch or agree a loan deal.

Liverpool have already spent almost £68m on new players this summer and have the financial muscle to match Ajax's demands.

AC Milan are also said to be keen on El Ghazi.
