Newcastle United midfielder Moussa Sissoko has been forced to train alone after repeatedly confirming his desire to leave the club.

Sissoko, who started for France in the final of Euro 2016 alongside Paul Pogba, has openly talked up a potential transfer to Champions League winners Real Madrid.

It is his form at international level that has seen his value rise dramatically with Rafa Benitez’s side thought to be asking for at least £35million for the 26-year-old.

Both Arsenal and Liverpool are thought to have expressed an interest in the midfielder along with Premier League rivals Everton and Crystal Palace.

Despite the speculation, Sissoko has been left to join up with Championship side Newcastle and was not included in their match-day squad for the 1-0 opening day defeat to Fulham on Friday.

"I resumed training on Monday," Sissoko confirmed to French media over the weekend.

"I am preparing with my own coach. I joined the squad slowly, hoping the transfer will be soon. But I am not going to sign without thinking. With everything, I take time to think.

"Real Madrid are a very big club, but you have to think and have no regrets," he added.

"I still hope to have the chance to join a more exclusive club. Now we are negotiating with Newcastle.

"My agent has had discussions with the club. They are open to a departure. We are in discussions. We’ll see what happens."
