Liverpool have reportedly made contact with Rennes over a deal for Ousmane Dembele.

The 18-year-old has emerged as one of the hottest prospects in Europe since making his professional debut in November.

Dembele has scored 12 goals in 25 games for Rennes, and has been handed his first call-up to the France U21 squad.

His impressive performances have seen him linked with a move to a host of European clubs.

Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool are all apparently keen on the striker, while Borussia Dortmund have already made a £11.9million bid for the striker.

But Dortmund's bid was rejected by Rennes, and French newspaper L'Equipe claim that was because Liverpool and Manchester City have entered negotiations over a deal for Dembele.

The report adds the French club are confident of getting a bigger fee for the teenager, another reason why they rejected Dortmund's bid.
