Liverpool are eyeing a move for Leicester goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel, according to reports.

The 29-year-old Denmark international has been a key player in the Foxes surprise Premier League title bid.

And his impressive displays have not gone unnoticed with the Sunday People claiming that the Reds have made an enquiry about the signing the shot-stopper.

It is believed that Schmeichel will not be sold during this transfer window as he looks to help Claudio Ranieri's side win an historic league title - but the transfer pressure is likely to be renewed in the summer.

The report further states that Jurgen Klopp wants to sign Schmeichel to provide competition for out-of-sorts Simon Mignolet, who recently signed a new five-and-a-half-year deal at Anfield.

Louis van Gaal's Manchester United are also said to be keen on striking a deal with the Dane as they are also looking to him as a potential replacement for David De Gea - who could still leave Old Trafford for Real Madrid.

Schmeichel has made 23 league appearances for the Foxes this season and has kept eight clean sheets.
