Jürgen Klopp has urged every member of his Liverpool squad to show they are 'ready and greedy' for the opportunities that will come their way during an ongoing busy fixture schedule.

The Reds will contest 11 games between now and New Year's Day, starting with an Anfield fixture against Premier League champions Chelsea on Saturday.

And, in his programme notes for that game, the boss has underlined the importance of every single one of his players being prepared to contribute whenever they are called upon.

"We are now into the most intensive period of the season, in terms of games-to-days ratio, and it will be a period that will test everyone mentally and physically," Klopp wrote in 'This Is Anfield'.

"This challenge means that everyone at Liverpool has a part to play and a contribution to make. This applies to the playing squad most of all.

"We have a squad of players because all of them will have a part to play. We need all of them ready and greedy for when they have a chance to contribute specifically on the pitch.

"They all contribute on a daily basis with their attitude and approach to keeping the training and atmosphere around the dressing room at the highest level.

"But this period - between now and the start of 2018 - is a time when every single player who is available for selection has to be ready at all times. I know our guys will be - I have no doubt."
