There was disappointment for Joe Allen and Danny Ward on Wednesday night as Wales were beaten 2-0 by Portugal in the semi-finals of Euro 2016.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Nani struck quickfire goals early in the second half to finally halt a thrilling run from Chris Coleman’s team at the tournament in France.

Allen played the whole 90 minutes in Lyon and Ward watched on from the bench, with the Welsh unable to find a way back into the contest after falling behind.

Portugal now progress to Sunday’s final at the Stade de France, where either the hosts or Germany – who meet on Thursday night – will be in opposition.
