Divock Origi expects Liverpool to quickly bounce back from their disappointing FA Cup exit to ensure a successful end to the season on three fronts.

Defeat to West Ham United on Tuesday evening ended the Reds' hopes of claiming an eighth success in the world's oldest cup competition for another season.

But with the Capital One Cup final and a Europa League last-32 double-header against Augsburg still to come, as well as 39 points available in the Barclays Premier League, there is still plenty to play for.

And Origi, who along with Daniel Sturridge and Philippe Coutinho returned from injury at Upton Park, believes Liverpool are well placed for a prosperous end to the campaign.

“We were all gutted to go out of the FA Cup,” he told the Liverpool Echo.

“As a team we didn’t perform badly. We had our chances and should have killed the game off. The late goal was so disappointing.

“But when I look at this squad I am optimistic. I see a lot of positive things.

“I feel good after my first game back from injury. I am happy to be back on the pitch and it was great to have two quality players like Studge and Phil back out there too.

“We’ve got real competition for places now and that should make the level of the team go up.

“It has to be a good thing with a lot of important games to come.

“We’ve still got a lot of league games left to improve our position, plus Europe and the League Cup.

“This part of the season is vital and we need to be at our best to compete.”

Origi is particularly excited by the prospect of taking on Manchester City at Wembley for what would be the first silverware of his short career.

“It’s a big motivation,” he continued. “When you sign for a big club you want to win trophies.

“We are so close to winning a big prize. It’s just one game against Manchester City.

“We have to use the next couple of weeks to ensure we’re ready for this moment.”

The Belgian also reflected on his relationship with Jürgen Klopp, who he believes has improved his game noticeably during his short time at Anfield.

“Klopp is a very different type of manager,” he said.

“You can see his drive, his experience, the power he brought to the club. He’s such an important part of the club.

“I have learned so much from working with him already. Not only tactically but also in terms of the mental aspects of the game. I enjoy playing for him.

“Nobody has any doubts about the manager. We are very happy to work with him.

“I can play all the positions along the frontline. I’ll play wherever the coach needs me.

“Playing out wide is different to the striking position but my job is still to score goals, to assist others and to be dangerous for the team.

“The more you play, the more confidence you get as you get into a match rhythm.

“But you have to earn those minutes and that starts with giving everything in training. I have to show I deserve to be out there.

“In a season things can change very fast and I know that good things are waiting for us.”
