Ahead of today's Anfield meeting with Manchester United, here are 14 key facts you should know about the game from club statistician Ged Rea…

At Anfield the Reds have taken 28 points out of a possible 69 against United in Premier League clashes.

Of the 47 Premier League clashes between the teams there has only ever been one which ended goalless. That was at Anfield in September 2005.

Only once in the last 20 league meetings has there been a draw. That came at Anfield in October 2011 when the game ended 1-1, with Steven Gerrard and Javier Hernandez both on target.

Liverpool have kept three clean sheets in the last 20 league clashes with Manchester United. Two of those came during the 2013-14 season.

Six Liverpool players have scored league hat-tricks against Manchester United, with only two men – Peter Beardsley (1990) and Dirk Kuyt (2011) – achieving the feat since 1936.

Liverpool, home and away, have failed to score in only one of the last 15 league tussles with United.

The last time the Reds put more than one goal past United at Anfield was the day Kuyt netted a hat-trick in a 3-1 win in March 2011. It is the only occasion in the last 13 seasons that Liverpool have netted more than twice against today's opponents in front of the Kop.

Christian Benteke has scored in each of his last three games against United, as he also scored for Aston Villa in both games against them last season.

A Reds victory this afternoon would be their 1,200th at Anfield in top-flight league football.

United have won the last three meetings between the sides. The last time they recorded a fourth on the spin was in March 2008.

They have won 11 times at Anfield in the Premier League era – more than any other visiting side.

Louis van Gaal has won all three of his meetings as a manager with Liverpool all of them coming with United, with eight goals being scored and two conceded.

United have failed to score in the first half in any of their last 10 home games in league and cup, while in the opening 45 minutes have conceded only one. On the road they have scored eight times in the same period.

They have won just once on the road in the league since mid-October, at Watford two months ago.
