Learn more about Liverpool's latest signing Marko Grujic with these 10 handy facts about the midfielder...

The 19-year-old was born in Belgrade on April 13, 1996 and has represented his country Serbia at every level from U16 to U21.

Grujic made his debut for Red Star Belgrade when he was 17 years old back in May 2013 but suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Vojvodina. Despite the result, the Serbian saw it as an unforgettable experience, saying: "I cannot describe how I felt at that moment".

He stands at six foot three inches - taller than any midfielder in the current Reds squad.

The midfielder was part of the Serbia team that won the FIFA U20 World Cup in New Zealand last summer and appeared five times throughout the tournament.

In 2014, Grujic spent time out on loan at Serbian second tier side FK Kolubara but had dual registration which meant he could also still play for Red Star.

The youngster is looking forward to playing at Anfield for the first time having spoke about the unique atmosphere in British stadiums in the past. He said: "I love the local atmosphere in the stadiums, where the audience is closer to the pitch and [how it] transfers energy to the players."

Grujic cemented a place at the heart of Red Star Belgrade’s midfield under manager Miodrag Bozovic. He’s generally plays as a box-to-box midfielder, showing his tenacity break up play defensively combined with an ability to get his side on the front foot.

The midfielder becomes the first player to join the Reds from Red Star. The two sides have only met twice, both in 1972, when the Serbians knocked Liverpool out of the European Cup in the second round. Bill Shankly’s side suffered a 2-1 defeat away from home in the first leg before going down by the same scoreline in the return leg at Anfield.

Grujic wore the No.8 shirt at Red Star.

He hails from an academy that has produced talents such as Inter Milan legend Dejan Stankovic, former Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic and Manchester City left-back Aleksandar Kolarov.
