Jürgen Klopp's intensity is ensuring Liverpool's players give everything they have both in training and out on the pitch, according to Daniel Sturridge.

The German masterminded his finest result with the Reds so far on Saturday as Manchester City were conquered 4-1 in exhilarating style at the Etihad Stadium.

Sturridge, who has yet to play under Klopp, was fit enough to join the substitutes at the home of his former club but did not have to be risked on the night.

But as he nears a return to action, the striker has explained how much he and his teammates are enjoying working with the boss – and the effect it is subsequently having.

Sturridge said: “I’ve been very impressed. He came in and over the first week – which I was training in – he put his style on us pretty much straight away.

“He trains you exactly how he wants you to play, in terms of he’s very involved, he’s all-action, he’s very intense and he wants you to perform at your best level every day in training as well.

“That’s what everyone does on the training field – gives 100 per cent every day and goes into the games with the same mentality.”
