Former Liverpool forward and Champions League winner Djibril Cisse has announced his retirement from football at the age of 34.

The ex-France international, who made 79 appearances for the Reds and netted 24 goals, was signed from Auxerre in the summer of 2004.

Cisse scored one of the penalties in the dramatic shootout victory over AC Milan in the Champions League final in Istanbul a decade ago.

He also contributed a brilliant finish in the 2006 FA Cup final as the Reds recovered to beat West Ham United at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.
