Adam Bogdan considers the amount of chances Liverpool created against Norwich City to be reason for encouragement, though admits the Reds now have to sharpen their shooting.

Brendan Rodgers’ side had 23 attempts to their opponents’ seven at Anfield on Sunday but the most important statistic showed a goal apiece when the final whistle was blown.

Mere minutes after entering the action as a half-time substitute, it was summer signing Danny Ings who broke the deadlock with an adept touch and finish at the Kop end.

However, Russell Martin responded for the Canaries to level and John Ruddy then produced a number of saves to prevent the home team from restoring their lead.

“I think it was a good performance on Sunday, we played really well but didn’t put the ball in the net enough to win the game,” reflected Bogdan, who will hope to make his Liverpool debut in tomorrow’s Capital One Cup clash with Carlisle United.

“But I think it’s something we can build on and take it into Wednesday’s game and win.

“Take nothing away from Norwich, because they defended well and put their bodies on the line.

“But that’s what you expect when you play at home – teams come here and try their best to keep the score to at least a draw. And they managed to do that.

“I believe we played well, although of course we cannot be happy because we didn’t score enough.

“Going forward we need to be stable at the back and create just as many chances as we did on Sunday and put the ball into the net to win games.”
