Coutinho scoops August Goal of the Month award
Philippe Coutinho's stunning winner in the opening day victory at Stoke City has been voted by fans as Liverpool's Goal of the Month for August, in association with EA SPORTS.
Just as the tie seemed destined to end in a stalemate, the Reds' No.10 lashed a vicious, swerving finish into the top corner to seal a dramatic three points for the Reds.
Unsurprisingly, the goal was the overwhelming favourite in our online supporters' poll to take the monthly accolade.
Christian Benteke’s Kop-end winner against AFC Bournemouth finished runner-up, while Joao Carlos Teixeira’s stunning drive for the U21s against Everton came third.
Completing the top five in the results, whittled down from a 10-goal shortlist, Coutinho’s curler against HJK Helsinki in pre-season was fourth, with Madger Gomes’ long-range special for the U21s against Morecambe in fifth spot.
