Divock Origi believes a season of progression at Lille will stand him in good stead ahead of his return to Liverpool next summer.

The Reds completed the signing of the striker in July having tracked him since he was representing the Belgian U15 team.

19-year-old Origi immediately re-joined Lille on a season-long loan to continue his development and plans to use the next nine months to garner as much experience as possible.

"It's an honour to have signed for such a big club," he said. "The Premier League suits me best. And Liverpool proposed me a real sporting project. I didn't hesitate.

"I still have work to do. This season will be very important for my personal development.

"I want to show more of what I can do on the pitch, and to take on more responsibility. I think that's a rite of passage you have to undergo before you join a big club. That's a real challenge for this season."
