There was frustration for Liverpool U19s as they lost 3-0 to Red Bull Brasil in the final of the Otten Cup in Holland on Sunday.

Neil Critchley's young squad had reached the final after a dramatic win over Belgian outfit Anderlecht in the semi-final.

Dan Cleary's last minute header from a set piece ensured penalties would decide who would get the final spot.

Ryan Fulton was the hero as he made a superb stop and the young Reds scored all five of their kicks to make the final.

Red Bull Brasil had beaten Real Madrid in their semi-final clash and were to prove a strong outfit for the Reds to break down as they won the prestigious tournament after a 3-0 win.

Critchley told Liverpoolfc.com: "I have to say Red Bull Brasil are a very good side and they didn't concede a goal in the whole tournament.

"We made three mistakes in the final and they were so clinical and punished us.

"Despite the defeat we can take many positives from this tournament and we are proud of the lads.

"They represented the club extremely well and will take a lot from this."
