Rodgers buoyed by transfer business
Brendan Rodgers is relishing the challenge of continuing Liverpool's improvement this season, which will be aided by the club's strength in depth.
The options of the Reds boss have been heavily bolstered in the off-season, as the aim of building a stronger squad has materialised.
Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana, Emre Can, Lazar Markovic and Dejan Lovren have joined the Anfield fold, with Javier Manquillo coming in on loan. The young, dynamic Belgian forward Divock Origi was also secured from Lille, but will spend a further season with the French club.
"I'm really, really happy with the business that we've done," said Rodgers in his first pre-match press conference ahead of the new Barclays Premier League season.
"It will allow us to cope with injuries, to cope with all the competitions, and if we can add one or two more in the areas that we want, then we would have had a very, very good window.
"We didn't sign anyone in January, so we had to make it count this summer and I would say this will be our biggest window for a few years."
Rodgers maintained that Liverpool will keep calm in the market and not be forced into recruiting personnel who do not fit into the club's philosophy.
High on the agenda is acquiring another option upfront.
"We'll aim to do that [add a striker] right until the end," added the manager.
"The money is there, but it's not as if there's panic to buy.
"It is something we will look to complete before the end of the window, but if we do not add upfront, it means the right player did not become available to us."
