A familiar face takes centre stage in the latest episode of 'World Stars', with former Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso reminiscing about his five years at Anfield and looking ahead to a summer in Brazil.

In the lead-up to the 2014 World Cup next month, LFCTV is broadcasting 20 stylish documentaries on the individuals who could light up the four-week-long tournament in South America with their unique skills.

Each vignette features exclusive interviews with the player in focus, the thoughts of coaches, colleagues and teammates from the world of football, and memorable match highlights from the star's career.

A trio of Reds - Steven Gerrard, Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez - have already been under the spotlight in the series, as have the likes of superstars Lionel Messi and Thiago Silva, among others.

Today it is the turn of a man who remains hugely popular with Kopites despite leaving the club five years ago, and who will target a second World Cup triumph with Spain - Alonso.

On Liverpool, the 32-year-old recalled: "It's a very special club. The fans are very special and Anfield is like a temple for football, somewhere we had many great nights."

Anticipating Spain's challenge at the World Cup, he added: "Now we have the biggest event in the world to prepare for. Being the current champions it's as though there is an extra responsibility but, as always, we'll try to do our best."

The episode will premiere on LFCTV at 8pm BST tonight and will be repeated later at 10.30pm BST, but LFCTV GO subscribers can enjoy priority access now by clicking play below. If you have not already signed up, click here to join now.
