Philippe Coutinho is hoping he can conjure up another star showing against Fulham if the fit-again Brazilian is selected for this afternoon’s Barclays Premier League clash.

The 21-year-old, who returned to action against Arsenal last weekend following injury, was in devastating form as he helped Daniel Sturridge net a hat-trick in a 3-1 win at Craven Cottage in May.

Indeed, so impressive was Coutinho's performance, he was even afforded applause from the home supporters as he was substituted towards the end of the game.

Now, the No.10 is hoping for something similar when Liverpool welcome Fulham to Anfield later today.

Asked if it was one of his best games for the club, Coutinho replied: "As far as I can remember, yes. It was a good match, we won 3-1 and I hope we can repeat it again this time around.

"There are no easy games in the Premier League. All games are pretty difficult so we need to respect our opponent, but at the same time play our own game and take advantage of all opportunities during the match, which will certainly be a difficult one."

Coutinho's coup de grace that afternoon was a majestic outside-of-the-foot through ball that allowed Sturridge to claim his third goal.

For a man renowned for stunning assists, was that one of his best?

"I suppose," he considered. "But I leave that decision up to the fans and I hope that for this match, if I have the opportunity to play, I can offer them and my teammates another such pass."

Liverpool go into the game in third position in the Barclays Premier League table looking to sign off with three points ahead of the forthcoming international break.

The Reds' start to the campaign has given them a solid platform to mount a top-four challenge, but Coutinho is refusing to look too far ahead.

He said: "The top-four places are well contested. There are always many teams competing for a position in the top-four slots.

"I think we need to be focused and balanced, have constant level of performance during the season, take it one match at a time and in the end we'll see."
