Goal machine Natasha Dowie was on the mark again as Liverpool Ladies kept up their fight for the Women's Super League title with a 2-0 win over Doncaster Belles on Wednesday night.

The ladies had thrashed Doncaster 9-0 a fortnight earlier away from home, but manager Matt Beard had pre-warned his team to expect a much tougher contest at the Halton Stadium.

Dowie gave Beard's charges the perfect start with the opening goal after just 10 minutes when she finished off Nicole Rolser's inviting cross.

Rolser had a great chance to make it 2-0 in the second half and Katrin Omarsdottir also went close but Doncaster deserve credit for making life tough at times for the Reds.

Four minutes from time the result was sealed when Fors fired home at the second attempt to make it 2-0.

Beard's side have now scored 40 goals this season in the Super League in just 12 games and now go five points clear at the top of the league, although reigning champions Arsenal have two games in hand.

With just two games remaining the title race is going to go right to the wire.
