Daniel Sturridge believes Brendan Rodgers' footballing philosophy will help drive Liverpool forward over the coming seasons - and the striker has set his sights on challenging for trophies.

Sturridge signed for the Reds in January this year, and quickly became a hit with Kopites, who watched him plunder 11 goals in 16 games.

And he is eager for the team to build on a strong finish to the 2012-13 campaign when Rodgers begins his second season in charge in August.

"With the philosophy that the manager has, we should be challenging for honours," Sturridge told the official monthly LFC magazine. "I think it's going to be great for us in the future and we can move forward.

"I think we did things last season, both prior to me coming here and then with my help, to deliver some better statistics than we have had in previous years in terms of goals and attacking play.

"It's exciting to be part of that philosophy and the new regime that the manager is forming for us to move forward as a club."
