Matt Beard - Manager

Honours: FA Women's Championship (2021-22)

Matt Beard was appointed Liverpool FC Women manager for the second time in May 2021.

Beard returned to the club almost six years after his first spell – which saw the Reds clinch back-to-back Women’s Super League titles under his leadership in 2013 and 2014 – came to an end.

In the interim, he worked with Boston Breakers in the United States, West Ham United Women and, most recently, Bristol City Women.

Beard delivered the club’s objective of a return to the Women’s Super League at the first opportunity in 2021-22 – and in hugely impressive fashion.

After an opening-day defeat, the Reds embarked on a 20-game unbeaten run in the Women’s Championship that included 16 victories and led them to win the title by 11 points.

“Everything comes down to hard work, and the atmosphere around the training ground has been absolutely brilliant,” said Beard, who was named the LMA’s Manager of the Year in the division.

“If you work hard and you’ve got a good atmosphere and you’ve got respect amongst each other, then these are the things that you can achieve. The players have had to be on their ‘A’ game and from my perspective it’s been a delight for me to work with them.”
