Harry Wilson has already got his sights set on a 'massive' pre-season period with Liverpool following the end of a successful loan spell at Hull City.

After enjoying a prolific start to the campaign at U23 level, the Welshman agreed a temporary switch to the Championship with the Tigers in January.

He subsequently flourished in England's second tier, netting seven goals in his 14 appearances under Nigel Adkins.

And now he is aiming to build on his productive Hull stay by impressing Reds boss Jürgen Klopp ahead of the 2018-19 campaign getting under way.

"It's what I wanted, to get out there and play some minutes in a tough league, and I managed to do that at Hull," he told Liverpoolfc.com.

"I feel when I played, I did well - that's what you want to be doing as a player, playing.

"That was why I wanted to go out on loan, to prove to people I can do it at that level, and I think I managed to do that.

"It was good for me, it's given me a lot of confidence, so I'm looking forward to getting back here for pre-season now.

"[It's] massive. I want to get back here, get in the manager's eye, hopefully do well and then see what happens."

Wilson's exploits before and during his stint at Hull saw him named Academy Player of the Year at Liverpool's annual Players' Awards on Thursday evening.

Reflecting on his win, the youngster added: "It means a lot. When you look at the past winners and where they are now, that's where I want to be.

"I feel I've had a good season personally and [it's been] a good season for the Academy as well. I'm sure it'll be the same next season for the Academy and I'm hoping personally it will be as well."
