Liverpool are ready to reignite their interest in Barcelona outcast Cristian Tello, who is also a target for Southampton.

The Merseyside club have been tracking the 24-year-old for years however it was unclear how the appointment of Jurgen Klopp had affected their pursuit.

And now, according to the Corriere dello Sport, Liverpool have re-entered the race to sign the forward, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Fiorentina.

Tello had been hailed as the next superstar of Barca when he broke through into the first team back in 2011 but his career at the Nou Camp has stalled.

As such, he has been out on loan – first at Porto, then Fiorentina – since July 2014 and it does not look like he will be reintegrated to the Barca first team any time soon.

The Spaniard scored two goals in 15 Serie A outings after arriving in Florence in January and now Fiorentina want to keep him for another season.

However, both Liverpool and Southampton are hoping to hijack the deal and bring the striker to the Premier League.
