Jurgen Klopp has set his sights on securing a deal for Barcelona winger Cristian Tello, according to reports.

The 24-year-old has not played for Barca since 2014 having been on a two-year loan with FC Porto.

Tello’s time in Portugal was cut short in January when he was again sent out on loan to Serie A side Fiorentina with an option to buy for £6.3million.

It is claimed the Italian outfit want to exercise this option to secure a permanent deal for Tello after impressing in his 15 outings, producing five assists and scoring two goals.

Barcelona can cancel Fiorentina's clause if they pay £12.6m to the Serie A club before June 30, but they are unlikely to make such a move as Tello is surplus to requirements.

And Spanish newspaper Sport claim Liverpool could pip Fiorentina to a deal, with Reds boss Klopp said to be keen on bringing the Spain international to Anfield.

Express Sport understands Klopp is planning to overhaul his Liverpool squad this summer and Tello could prove to be a key addition to the side ahead of his first full season in charge.

Klopp has already been busy in the transfer market, having pre-signed goalkeeper Loris Karius and defender Joel Matip before the summer window opens. They will will come in alongside January signing Marko Grujic.
