Liverpool are preparing a late transfer swoop for Barcelona forward Cristian Tello, according to reports.

Tello, 24, who has been strongly linked with a move to Anfield on several occasions, was a target for former Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers who was a keen admirer of the 24-year-old.

The Barcelona man is in the middle of a two-season loan deal with Portuguese side Porto and enjoyed a key role under former manager Julen Lopetegui last season. But following the sacking of Lopetegui, Tello has fallen down the pecking order in Portugal under new man .

And having seen his opportunities at Porto limited, Italian media outlet Tuttomercatoweb claim Serie A side Fiorentina looked set to complete a loan deal for Tello with a view to a £6million permanent deal but have hit a snag as Liverpool look to hijack the deal.
