Liverpool will have to stave off competition from Bayern Munich if they are to capture Schalke winger Leroy Sane, according to reports in Germany.

Kopp boss Jurgen Klopp has been tracking the 20-year-old for some time, while Manchester City are also keeping their eye on the German with a view to making a mega bid this summer.

However, according to Sport Bild, the lure of Bayern could prove to be too tempting for Sane, and the German champions are prepared to pay £37m for his services next season.

Incoming Bayern manager Carlo Ancelotti is keen on replenishing the wide areas next season with Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben both entering their career swansongs.

And Schalke could be ready to do business with Bayern after reports suggest the Bavarians would be open to loaning the youngster back to them for another season.
