Arsenal have made a £24million bid for Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Granit Xhaka, according to reports.

Xhaka has been linked with a move to the Premier League for some time after revealing it was his 'dream' to play in the English top flight.

And Express Sport understands Liverpool have been showing interest in the 23-year-old, as well as Arsenal and Manchester City.

However, according to The Mirror, the Gunners are leading the chase and have made a £24m bid for the Switzerland international.

The report comes after claims Arsene Wenger met with Xhaka's father and agent to discuss a potential move last week.

Monchengladbach are reportedly holding out for a figure closer to £32m, but Wenger is said to be reluctant to go that high.

The 66-year-old has only twice exceeded that transfer sum in his 20 years at the club, bringing in Mesut Ozil for £42.5m and Alexis Sanchez for £32m.
