Ben Woodburn expects 'more to come' from Liverpool after they began pre-season with a 7-0 victory at Chester FC on Saturday afternoon.

The 18-year-old was part of the first-half team fielded by Jürgen Klopp, who then made wholesale changes for the second period at Swansway Chester Stadium.

The Reds eased to a comfortable win courtesy of strikes from Harry Wilson (two), James Milner, Daniel Sturridge (two), Ryan Kent and Danny Ings.

On a positive day all round, summer signings Fabinho and Naby Keita also made their first appearances for the club, playing in either half.

But Woodburn believes there is plenty left in the tank for Liverpool.

“It was a good win, the lads played well,” he told Liverpoolfc.com.

“They were well organised, they showed what they could do and gave their best but I think we showed our quality. There’s a lot more to come but we did well.”

The Wales international was deployed in a deeper role during his 45-minute outing and enjoyed the opportunity it gave him to take possession more frequently.

“It’s good,” he confirmed. “You get a lot of the ball and you can show your passing ability so I think it was good just to get the ball and play it around.”

Keita caught the eye with an energetic display after taking to the pitch for the second half and the Guinean is already impressing his new teammates.

“Definitely, he is a quality player and he definitely showed that,” added Woodburn.
