On this day in 1977, Liverpool completed the signing of Kenny Dalglish from Celtic - relive one of his finest moments in a red jersey in our free video now.

The 515 appearances, 172 goals, two spells as manager, eight league titles, three European Cups, five League Cups and two FA Cups only tell part of the Scot's incredible Anfield story.

Universally regarded as one of the greatest to ever wear the Liver Bird upon their chest - if not the finest of all time - Dalglish's legacy extends beyond the pitch, with the 65-year-old not just revered on Merseyside for his footballing ability.

Perhaps one of his best moments in Liverpool red was conjured up on May 3, 1986 when, as the club's player-manager, he scored a priceless goal against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge to clinch the championship and enable his team to go on and seal their first ever league and cup double.
