A book written by the wife of Liverpool fan Seán Cox will be released in October, explaining how life has changed for the family following the serious, unprovoked attack her husband suffered outside of Anfield in April 2018.

Martina Cox tells the emotional story of the journey from the events of the night of the Reds' Champions League semi-final against AS Roma to the present day, with Seán moving back home for the first time in two years just as the coronavirus lockdown took hold.

With Hope in Your Heart includes a foreword by Jürgen Klopp and explores how the unwavering support from Liverpool fans - among many others - helped the Cox family through an extremely challenging period.

“The last two years have been unimaginably difficult but our love for Seán and determination that he gets the best care possible has kept us going,” said Martina.

“It has been an uphill battle but he is making progress every day. The book emphasises how, with the help of family, community, Liverpool and tens of thousands of people across the world who were touched by Seán’s story, we have achieved what was thought to be impossible and we are so grateful for that.”

Comissioning editor for the book, Sarah Liddy, added: “This is a remarkable story of turning heartbreak into hope. Readers will be in awe of Martina’s strength and determination to get the best care for her husband in the face of incredible challenges. At its heart this is a love story. The kind of love that conquers all.”
