Liverpool FC U14/15s travelled to central Europe this week to take part in the Ostrava Tournament and Auschwitz visit 2018.

The young Reds journeyed to the Czech Republic to take on Hertha BSC, Slask Wroclaw and host team Banik Ostrava before moving on to Auschwitz, in Poland, to pay their respects to those who passed away in World War II.

Having recently been visited by the Holocaust Educational Trust at the Academy, Anthony Ryan and Jonathan Robinson's squad visited the Auschwitz II-Birkenau concentration camp before laying flowers, lighting candles and pausing to reflect.

Academy head of education and welfare, Phil Roscoe, said: "It was a real privilege for the club to have been invited to take part in the tournament in Ostrava, where we were hosted fantastically.

"It was another brilliant trip for the boys as they were educated on the Holocaust as well as gaining a wider understanding of World War II.

"It is extremely important that the lads are given an education on such important historical events such as the Holocaust, and follows on from our recent visit from Hannah Lewis MBE from the Holocaust Educational Trust to the Academy last week."
