Paul Glatzel netted a penalty as Liverpool U18s played out a 1-1 draw with Hertha BSC U19s in Germany on Wednesday.

Following their training camp in Hungary, Barry Lewtas' side produced an encouraging display.

Glatzel kept his nerve to give the young Reds the lead from the penalty spot, but the home team levelled with 20 minutes remaining following a set-piece.

Reflecting on the draw, Lewtas told Liverpoolfc.com: "It was a very good pre-season game and it was a really good test for us.

"They were a strong side and physically very tough, but we coped with it well and played some excellent football at times.

"We have had an excellent training camp and we can't wait for the season to start now."
