Liverpool are set to battle Juventus for Cologne defender Jonas Hector.

The German international is widely viewed as the best left-back in the Bundesliga at present.

And despite Cologne sitting second bottom of the league at present, Hector has thrived this term.

Juventus are fully expecting Alex Sandro to leave the club this summer, with Chelsea and Manchester United both reportedly interested.

And Kwadwo Asamoah is set to join fellow Serie A side Inter Milan.

But Liverpool are willing to battle the European giants for Hector's signature, according to Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport.

Jurgen Klopp already has Andrew Robertson and Alberto Moreno on the books at Anfield.

And the former has been performing well in recent months after a shaky start on Merseyside.

The 27-year-old has been capped 36 times for Joachim Low's side.
