Arsenal and Liverpool have missed out to Borussia Dortmund in the race for Lorient defender Raphael Guerreiro, according to reports in France.

The 22-year-old was one of the star performers in Ligue 1 last season and he is part of the Portugal squad taking part at this summer's Euros.

Arsenal and Liverpool have been weighing up a move for the left-back, while clubs in Spain were interested too.

But, according to L'Equipe, Dortmund are on the verge of finalising a deal for Guerreiro.

The German club will hand over around £10million for the Portugal international, with a 20 per cent sell-on fee clause also part of the transfer.

Guerreiro is now expected to undergo a medical in Paris today, with his national side allowing him special dispensation to do so.
