Liverpool face an uphill struggle in their pursuit of Raphael Guerreiro, with Real Madrid and Barcelona hot on the tail of the Lorient full-back.

Guerreiro, a French-born Portugal international, has spent all season attracting scouts to Brittany with his marauding displays down the left flank.

La Liga champions Barcelona have already had meetings with the 22-year-old's entourage, according to SPORT, while German newspaper BILD has claimed that Borussia Dortmund already have an agreement to sign the player for €12million.

Real Madrid want the Portuguese defender to replace his compatriot Fabio Coentrão this summer, and also see him as a long-term replacement for Marcelo.

Which all makes it rather difficult for Liverpool, who don't have Champions League football to offer.

Guerreiro is a favourite of the transfer committee but is also liked by Reds boss Jurgen Klopp.

Even that may not be enough, but the Anfield club could likely give him first-team football and match the wages on offer from Dortmund.
